About Us - Michelle's Story

My name is Michelle Smith-Billups and I wanted to share a little about us. The idea of bringing black singles together has been marinating for quite some time. I/we started our business a little over a year ago with the idea of a nightclub of some kind. Then we had several events but I now see that this idea was the basis for the other ideas. I want to offer as many people as possible the joy I have felt being married. No, not the singing in the rain or the happily ever after nonsense. Real marriage and love requires commitment and patience beyond belief. It demands you grit your teeth and choke on what you would really like to say and/or do. It demands that you speak to God daily so you will know why you are with this person chosen for you.

That said, there are many good things involved. My husband has been supportive in this new venture. What he did not understand was I have been consumed with building this website to get this idea out THERE to you! The internet is our next real frontier. We are not using it for nearly as many things as I believe it will be used for. My dream is to bring this idea to as many people as possible, to share the information I have and involve the people locally to expand our data base as we connect single people with each other.

Our relationship shows how you can meet people and never dream the impact they will have on your life. My husband was my first boyfriend and first love. When we each went through all the trials and tribulations(I know for me at least) we could handle, we were brought back together. I have never been the type to dream of a big wedding, or even really wanting to BE married. Too many chains, too much accountability. I am learning, but it is a slow process.

I trusted God that this was the right decision and have no regrets. It has not been easy, but I have faith that all is as it should be. My goal is bringing as many people together as possible. You will make new friends and if you allow yourself the freedom to be yourself, who knows how many wonderful things can happen. I look forward to meeting you.

Be Blessed.

About Us - Leon's Story

My name is Leon Billups and I am the second half of Ebony 1st Impressions. My wife, Michelle is the better half. She thought up the idea of bringing sincere black men and women together. My guess would be after being so happy with our marriage, she wanted to share that joy with others.

We met about 30 years ago. She was my first girlfriend. Back then, we were girlfriend and boyfriend. We "dated" for about 3-4 months. Then we split up (my fault so she tells me). We would still see each other from time to time and we remained friends. I knew back then that she was special. I mean, very intelligent and was going places in her life. She always held a special place in my heart. You know what I mean. The first one. First girlfriend, first kiss, first sexual encounter. You never forget that. Well, a friend of ours had a birthday party and we both went, not knowing the other would be attending. I hoped she would be there because like I said, she held a special place in my heart. When I saw her my heart went racing. All kinds of thoughts were going through my mind. Anyway after the party we exchanged numbers. The next day I called her and we talked for hours. We went out a couple of times and three months later I asked her to marry me. It was like a dream come true and this relationship shows that dreams do come true. Good things come to those who wait (and wait) We have been married almost two years now. They have not all been good times, but I would not trade them in for all the tea in China.

We are building this business in the hope that we can bring black singles together in a positive, meaningful way. A black connection that grows and gets better with time. If this is what you are looking for- what are you waiting on, sign up NOW! If you don't make a love connection you can at least make some great friends and that is the basis for all REAL relationships. Give yourself and your dreams a chance at real love or a great friendship. Take a chance on yourself and come meet maybe the man or woman of your dreams. Keep in touch with us by sending your email address.

Be Blessed.

Leon
